At the Library
Summer Reading Clubs for Kids and Teens (summer) - Throughout the summer nearly 1,500 children and teens join our Reading Clubs. Kids share books they have read and receive stickers, prizes, ana other incentives.
Newbery Book Club - Children in fourth grade meet monthly to discuss the newest children's books. For a list of books currently under discussion see: www.nenpl.org/services/childrens/ newbery/newberybookclub.htm. A mock Newbery election is held in January to determine the most distinguished children's book of the year.
Teen Volunteer Opportunities (monthly) - The Library offers at least one opportunity each month. Teens participate in a group volunteer project and earn community service credit.
SAT Preparation Workshop (fall and spring) - This four-week series helps students prepare for the SAT and PSAT exams.
Teen Advisory Board - Every other month teens in grades 6-12 earn volunteer credit while helping to plan teen programs, assisting in webpage design, and creating displays and decorations for teen events.
Babysitting Workshop (winter and summer) - Teens earn a certificate when they learn safe babysitting techniques during a four-hour class taught by an instructor from Cornell Cooperative Extension.
Boater's Safety Course (spring) - Boaters ages 11 and up meet with a certified instructor to earn a New York State Boater's license.
