Bus Trips

Book-A-Trip, our popular, escorted bus trips, take our patrons to places
and events of cultural and educational interest. Join us for visits to
museums, historical landmarks, plays, and art exhibitions. Dates and
times are published in the Library's monthly newsletter.

Book Discussion Groups

Novel Ideas, our book discussion group, and Short Story Central, our short story discussion group, meet each month from October to June. Dates and details are in the Library newsletter. If you have your own book discussion group, a Reference Librarian can get multiple copies of a title for your group. Contact a Reference Librarian for further details.

Friday Afternoon at the Movies

Twice each month the library presents feature-length films at the
Northport Library. Details are in the Library newsletter.

Internet Basics

Learn the fundamentals of Internet access at this monthly program.
Learn more about computer use by participating in the many programs
available at the Library. See our newsletter for more detailed
information.

Internet User Group

Join our monthly program as we review the latest in technology and
review questions and concerns for the experienced computer user.

Plays, Concerts & Lectures

The Library is the center for lifelong education, enrichment, and
entertainment. Professional musical concerts and theatrical
performances are regularly featured. Community residents may also
enjoy a wide variety of informational lectures and craft workshops. The
monthly Library newsletter includes a complete listing of all activities.

55/Alive Mature Driver Program

Offered on a monthly basis, AARP'S Mature Driver Program is open to
library card holders who are 50 years of age or older. There is a $10 fee
payable to AARP at registration. See the Library newsletter for dates and
times.

Defensive Driving

This six-hour course, which is offered monthly, qualifies motorists for a
10% reduction on collision and liability premiums for three years, and
reduction of four points on their driving record. There is a $35.00 fee.

Health Insurance Information, Counseling & Assistance Program

HIICAP-trained counselors visit the Library each month to answer
questions about Medicare, supplementary insurance, and HMOs
designed for Medicare recipients. Appointments are required. See the

Blood Pressure Check

The Visiting Nurse Service provides a free blood pressure check at the
Library on the first Wednesday of each month. See the Library
newsletter for dates and times.

Income Tax Preparation Assistance for Seniors

AARP counselors, trained by the IRS, are available to provide income tax preparation assistance to seniors during the months of February
through April. See the Library newsletter for dates and times.

Read, Ride, Return

The next time you board a train from the Northport Railroad Station why
not take along a paperback book to enjoy on your trip from the Library's
Read ... Ride ... Return shelves located in the station. Mysteries,
suspense, romance, and other popular fiction are among the titles that
commuters have enjoyed since the Read ... Ride ... Return program
