Visually-enhanced computer equipment and assistive listening devices are available. Please ask a Librarian about other special equipment, or let us know in advance if you require any special accommodations to participate in Library programs and activities.
Book Discussion Groups
When we read a good book, we love to talk about it.
Novel Ideas, the Library's monthly book discussion group, began in 1982. To date, the group has read more than 100 fiction books. Contact a librarian if you would like more information by clicking here.
The monthly Short Story Central short story discussion group has had a loyal following since the late 1980s. Contact a librarian if you would like more information by clicking here.
Career
The Library's Career Center is designed to assist patrons in preparing for a career and obtaining a job. Literature, audio-visual materials, and computer programs are available to enhance one's search. A comprehensive collection of college selection and financial aid resources will assist those preparing for higher education.
The New Virtual Career Information Center was created with the job seeker in mind and brings order and organization to the maze of career resources available on the Internet. This virtual source helps the job seeker to obtain and assimilate relevant information in order to best enhance his/her job needs.
Catalog
The user-friendly Online Public Access Catalog (OPAC) is your avenue to the Library's collections of books, magazines, videos, audiobooks, dvds, and software.
Local History
Delve into the rich history of our community, Long Island, and the Library itself in the Local History Center. Along with reference and circulating books and media, the center houses local history periodicals, genealogy resources, materials on historic preservation, historic photographs, a clipping file, the Tracks Through Time Oral History Collection, and archival records.
Homeward Bound Program
Are you, or is someone you know, unable to visit the library because of a temporary or permanent medical condition? Our Homeward Bound program is available to all Library district patrons who are unable to come to the library. You may tell us what materials you want, or have our Outreach Librarians choose materials based on your interests.
Whatever you enjoy, we will see that your library materials are homeward bound to you. Materials are delivered and picked up by a library courier.
This is a free and confidential service. To find out if you are eligible for the Homeward Bound Program and (to receive an application) please contact Margaret Brozek, Outreach
Librarian, at the East Northport Library (261-2313).
