The Northport-East Northport Public Library and the Northport-East Northport School District have formed a partnership in order to provide programs and resources on a wide variety of parenting topics. Books and materials are incorporated into our Parent's Collection. Programs are scheduled throughout the school year, from September to May. The Library newsletter lists current programs.
Displays
Children's Room displays differ in each building and are changed monthly. Each thematic display features interesting related objects, books, and take-home puzzle sheets or project ideas.
Imagination Center
The Imagination Center, a creative play space with an undersea theme, is located in the Northport Library Childrens Room. Here children can enjoy independent play with puppets and puzzles. The Imagination Center was donated in part by the family of longtime community resident Marian S. Adikes, in her memory. The Friendship Seating Collection in the center was donated in memory of Edna Tribley.
Homework Center
To assist students with classroom assignments, books are held in this special area for in-library use only. Many teachers provide the Youth Services Department with "Assignment Alerts" which enable the Librarians to anticipate students needs and place appropriate materials in the Homework Center.
