The Museum Cove at the Northport Library is proud to present ARCHITECTURE, an exhibit that will open in February and continue until June 15, 2005.

Architecture is nearly everywhere you look. The Museum Cove has been transformed to display the elements of architecture you see all around you. Learn about arches, domes, keystones, quoins, turrets, and zigzags — then take a virtual walk around Northport and East Northport.

In the display case you can take a look at some of the tools and techniques employed by today’s architects. In addition, components to construct an 8-foot-long arch will be available. View architectural models of buildings, homes, and bridges. Try your hand at a child-sized drafting table and use architectural tools to create your own blueprints on drafting paper.

Stop into the Museum Cove to use some of the unique building sets available in the exhibit. Come to the Architecture Open House on Thursday evenings in February when families will be invited to use the hands-on displays. Plan to attend two special Family Build It programs where a wide assortment of building sets will be available and refreshments will be served.

Information about children’s architecture exhibits in prominent museums such as the National Building Museum, Long Island Children’s Museum, and the Garden City Children’s Museum will also be available.
