Registration and Program Guide
Start your child on The Road to Reading. The Children’s Librarians at the Northport-East Northport Public Library can help you nurture your child’s early literacy skills. The Road to Reading is a progressive series of programs for children and parents. Offered three seasons each year, these programs help children develop listening and thinking skills, along with a lifelong love of reading.
New Moms
For babies, birth to 12 months
Parent and child only
First-time mothers and babies network with other new moms to discuss pertinent topics and learn songs and Mother Goose rhymes.
Rock-a-Bye Readers
For babies, not yet walking
Parent and child only
Learn Mother Goose rhymes and poems, share songs and fingerplays, and read board books together.
Stories in Motion
For walkers, up to 24 months
Parent and child only
Share action stories and use rhythm
instruments in this interactive class for energetic toddlers.
Songs and Stories
For one, two, and three-year-olds
With parent/caregiver and siblings
Sing songs and rhymes and respond rhythmically to music as you and your children listen to musical stories in this interactive group experience.
Family Storytime
For one, two, and three-year-olds with

Listen to stories, sing songs, and use rhythm instruments with your family in this beginning
storytime.
Family Fun

Within a creative play environment, families can share circle storytime, an art experience, and talk to a child development specialist.
Our First Storytime
For children, 2½ up to 4 years
You and your child only; no siblings please
Experience a beginning storytime, share books and flannelboard stories, and create a theme-related craft.
On My Own
For three-year-olds
Children listen to classic stories, sing songs, do fingerplays, and create a theme-related craft in this
first independent storytime.
Pre-K Storytime
For children entering kindergarten
Children listen to a broad range of literature, songs and fingerplays, and create a theme-related craft in a group setting.
Our Children’s Librarians will be happy to assist you at anytime
with your selection of books or other library services.
