The Media Services Department develops and maintains the video, DVD, audiocassette, and compact disc collections. These resources are housed in the Media Centers located in each of the Northport-East Northport Library Buildings.

Audiobooks on cassette (CSBK) and compact discs (CDBK) which include fiction (unabridged) and non-fiction (abridged and unabridged) titles.

Music Compact Discs (CD) are available in the following categories:

Classical composers
Classical performers
Country Western performers
Jazz performers
Musicals
Sound Effects
Soundtracks
Holiday music
All other types of music (filed under the name of the artist)

Playaway is the simplest way to listen to an audio book on the go.
It comes with the book already on it and a battery to make it play.
Simply plug in its earphones and enjoy. No cassettes or CDs.
No downloads. There’s nothing left to do but listen.

Suffolk Wave 24/7 access to an online digital collection of audiobooks, videos and music.

Videos (VHS) and DVDs

Entertainment films include adventure, classic, comedy, drama, film noir, western and foreign films. All titles are filed alphabetically.

Non-fiction films include instructional and documentary subjects and are arranged according to the Dewey Decimal System.

Friday Afternoon at the Movies

Twice each month, the Library presents a feature-length film at the Northport Library. Details are available in the Library newsletter. All films are from the Library's video and DVD collection.

The OPAC stations in the Media Centers are dedicated to searching only for media items.
