Career Information

The Library's Career Center is designed to assist patrons in preparing for a career and obtaining a job. Literature, audio-visual materials, and computer programs are available to enhance one's search. A comprehensive collection of college selection and financial aid resources will assist those preparing for higher education.

The New Virtual Career Information Center was created with the job seeker in mind and brings order and organization to the maze of career resources available on the Internet. This virtual source helps the job seeker to obtain and assimilate relevant information in order to best enhance his/her job needs.

Catalog Assistance

Reference librarians can help you navigate the user-friendly Online Public Access Catalog (OPAC). It is your avenue to the Library's collections of books, magazines, videos, audiobooks, dvds, and software.

Inter-Library Loan

If you cannot find the particular book or item you need within our library, the Adult, Teen or Children's Reference librarians will try to borrow it for you from another library. When the material arrives, you will be notified and it will be held at the Circulation Centers. Most interlibrary loans can be renewed.

Local History

Delve into the rich history of our community, Long Island, and the Library itself in the Local History Center. Along with reference and circulating books and media, the center houses local history periodicals, genealogy resources, materials on historic preservation, historic photographs, a clipping file, the Tracks Through Time Oral History Collection, and archival records.

Online Research Assistance

The Northport-East Northport Library provides current access to a wide range of electronic databases to assist you as you research your interests and/or homework. Browse and explore a vast array of topics including business, literature, health, art, and education in magazine and newspaper articles as well as reference resources.

Reader's Advisory

Reference librarians have many traditional and electronic online tools to help you find your next book. As reader advisors, we can help you locate other books by a favorite author, books by authors who write like your favorites, or new authors for you to enjoy.
