National Recovery Month is observed annually every September by Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) to raise awareness about addiction treatment and recovery. Purple is the designated color for overdose and recovery awareness. Pick up your purple pinwheel kit at the Northport building Teen Center and return it by August 31 to receive one hour of community service credit. The purple pinwheels will be displayed at both library buildings in September in partnership with the Northport-East Northport Community Drug and Alcohol Task Force initiative to turn Northport and East Northport purple for National Recovery Month. Teens may participate in a maximum of two volunteer opportunities.
