Dr. Zebulon Vance Miletsky, Associate Professor of African Studies at Stony Brook University, will discuss the history of Juneteenth-the date comenorating the emancipation of enslaved people in the United States. Explore how the day has been celebrated in Texas since 1865 and why it was recently declared a national holiday. Registration is underway. This program is cosponsored by the public libraries in the Town of Huntington.
