Art in the Library

Wooden Model Custom-crafted by Paul Gebel for our Museum Cove Exhibit entitled "The Age of the Automobile," January-April 2000, this classic is parked in the Northport Children's Room.

This exquisite painting was given to the East Northport Library and is located behind the circulation desk in the Main Lobby. The painting has been dedicated to the memory of Rhoda M. Brunson.

This little girl is absorbed in all the stories she loves to read.  Eyes fixated on the page, she reads with ardent interest over the stories that come to life for her. 

The bust of Abraham Lincoln, located on the Reference Desk at the Northport Library, was sculpted and donated to the Library by Northport resident Peter Tomlinson.

This beautiful wind sculpture graces the Dove Thomas Garden which was dedicated in June, 2013 in memory of Dove Thomas, a beloved member of the Library staff. An original creation by artist Jeffrey L.

Northport Artist Gregori Oleanik dedicates this oil on canvas to the memory of the nine crew members that perished from the Gwendoline Steers tugboat that sank during an ice storm in Long Island Sound on December 30, 1962.

Located on the southwest lawn of the Northport Library, Michelle’s Garden incorporates paver art and a commemorative garden bench funded by donations in memory of Michelle DeGeorge.

In the spring of 1999, the Library Trustees commissioned Northport sculptor George W. Hart to create The Millennium Bookball.

A painting by the American abstract painter and photographer Stanley Twardowicz (1917-2008).  This painting was gifted to the library by his estate through the generosity of his wife Lillian Dodson in 2011.

This watercolor painting was purchased from Northport Artist Russell Day following the exhibit of his art in the East Northport Library in 2000. It is on display in the East Northport Children's Room.

A terra cotta sculpture that is located behind the Reference Desk at the Northport Library was donated to the Library in 1999 by its artist, Northport resident David Jackier.

A limited edition lithograph by Sandra Kuck hangs in the main lobby of the East Northport library. It was donated by the family and friends of Mary Smith, dedicated staff member 1991-2001.

This sculpture, created by local artist Paul Moreno, was generously donated to the Library by Paul and Emily Gray Moreno in October 2016.  Rockfish can be viewed in the Contemplation Garden from the Northport Gallery.

Centerport artist Lawrence Schloss sculpted this piece. It is an abstract sculpture composed of granite, marble, and blue stone. The sculpture is located in the Main Reading Room.

The companion piece to "He's Like Me" was purchased by the Library. Both pieces are located in the Northport Children's Room.

A limited edition lithograph by John Poague MacLeod hangs above the fireplace in the Northport Library. The lithograph was a gift to Library from the McKays.

Unveiled September 16, 2006 in the courtyard of the Northport Public Library, commemorates the internationally loved classic by Antoine de Saint-Exupéry.

The Rotary Circle was part of the 90th Anniversary Library Courtyard project created with funds donated by the Northport Rotary Club.
