Teens in Grades 7-12
National Recovery Month is observed annually every September by Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) to raise awareness about addiction treatment and recovery. Purple is the designated color for overdose and recovery awareness. Pick up your purple pinwheel kit at the Northport Teen Center and return your completed project by July 31 to receive one hour of community service credit. The purple pinwheels will be displayed at both library buildings in September in partnership with the Northport-East Northport Drug and Alcohol Task Force. Teens may choose a maximum of two volunteer opportunities in addition to Purple Pinwheel Volunteers.
